U-G-L-Y........That Is All......An I Miss Polanco

Today was bad. I mean AWEFUL. Dropped pop-ups, bad throws, no key hits and when you give up 4 or 5 UN EARNED runs, it leads to a bad day.

On the bright side, Max Scherzer pitched very well again. Scherzer,(0-1) gave up five runs - just two earned - in five innings. And pitched much better then the stats showed. Scherezer has looked great so far in the early goin.

But over in Philly land.....my favorite player the last two years is just tearing it up for Philly. You guys got in philly got a great player. I still shake my head wht Detroit didn't keep him. GO POLANCO!!!

Big Comeback Can Lead To Big Season

Damon and Maggs could come up big this year

So there they were......30,000 people standing and screaming for a guy that everyone said was a dumb pick-up. A desperate move by a team going nowhere. "Johnny, Johnny" the crowd roared. Yes, Johnny Damon officially became a Tiger today. And all he did was simply draw a pinch-hit walk. Sounds boring, but to the baseball junkies of the world it was way more.

It capped off a sweep of the Cleveland Indians, and put the Tigers in first place after week 1 with a 5-1 record.

I know, I know. I can hear it already! It's WAY to early to get excited. Well I have news for you. IT'S NOT.

It's games like this that can MAKE an entire season, and believe me, if we were 1-5 and blew a 7-1 lead today people would be saying, "I told ya' so."

Like I said, since the Tigers made the trade, made this "awful" trade, for Austin Jackson and Phil Coke, (and Max Scherzer), they got alot of talent in this trade. (Sorry I just have to keep saying that since all the experts on my local 'know-it-all' radio station said it was an awful move.)

Right now the Tigers are 5-1, and their worst pitcher has been Justin Verlander. Hmmmm, thats odd. Just think how good we can be when JV comes around!

Jackson, Damon Shine In Opener

I was one of the few who liked it. I was one of the few who said the Tigers made out. I'm talking about the Tigers trading fan favorite Curtis Granderson for Austin Jackson and Phil Coke.

Yes, it's only been one game, but my point is the new guy in centerfield can play. I mean really play. The yankees shunned many trades over the years that would have had to include Jackson as part of the package, and its obvious why.

Granderson was a fan favorite here in Detroit, and a very solid centerfielder, but I have a good feeling that Jackson is going to do well. Very well.

And the other new guy also happened to get a key hit. Johnny Damon went 2 for 5, but had a key go-ahead double in the 7th to put the Tigers up for good.

1-0....Only 161 games to go!!!

The NFL Shows It's Ignorance Again

Mario Reyes.

That name probably doesn't ring a bell with most people. But if you are a NFL football fan, I'm sure Donte Stallworth does. In case you don't know the story, I'll tell you.

Mr. Reyes emigrated from Cuba to the good ole USA for a better life and was known to be a hardworking and decent man who took care of his family. At the time of his death, Reyes left behind a wife of 20 years and a 15-year-old daughter.

How did Mr Reyes die you ask? He was killed by a drunk driver. The thing we hate most. A man LOSES his life, because someone else was reckless, careless, and had no regard for others. People get life in prison for this offense. But not Mr. Reyes' killer.

You see Mr. Reyes' killer not only didn't do time, (wait I'm sorry, he did 24 days) but his old employer is paying him a million dollars next year to "work". I use that term loosely. For you see, Reyes' killer was Dante Stallworth, an up coming NFL star reciever, so that's where the joke begins and ends.

We all know the story..............

The NFL, NBA, Hollywood, they are all the same........they down play everything......they are the masters of changing the story around. They will have specials on ESPN and NFL Network next season of how Stallworth "Changed", and how he is "getting his life together"......blah blah, blah. How does Mario Reyes' wife get HER life together? How does his 15 year old girl get her life together? They are the victims. They are the ones who suffered a loss. NOT DANTE STALLWORTH. But the Baltimore ravens will spin the ole cock and bull story.........you know.....the "everyone deserves a second chance" story...

Look I really do believe people DO deserve second chances. God knows I am FAR from perfect. But this is ridiculous. Athletes, movie stars, all these slap on the wrists they get for doing wrong is a joke. Any common man would have been LUCKY to get 15 years with a chance of parole on involuntary manslaughter charges.

Our judicial system once again turns their head to justice and proves it is a joke.

Pistons Fall From Grace Complete

It's only been one year, yes one year, but it seems like the Pistons haven't been good for a decade, and watching Chauncey Billups pour in 17 points yesterday at the all-star game in Dallas for the WEST TEAM was the shining moment for me.

I know Billups hasn't been a Piston for over a year now, but man, once again, what a bad trade. And if the trade was really to "Free up cap space," then all sports have really fallen to hell.

They traded the heart and soul of this team, and man does it show.

This team was beast of the Eastern Conference for 7-8 years. Now they are not even a playoff team.

I hope Joe Dumars spends all this this so called saved money on someone good, or it's back to the Grant Hill days.......

Don't Worry New Orleans......You Still have Mardi Gras

Peyton Manning will be leading the Colts to Championship #2

Who Dat Nation is a pretty cool thing. The whole city, much more the whole state and most of the country getting on the ban wagon of the NFC Champion New Orleans Saints.

People goin crazy on Bourben St. PARTY!!! Man, what a seen that will be! For Mardi Gras that is.

Because their will be no ticker tape parade for the who dats. Sorry.

For you see the man on the other side of the ball playing QB is Peyton Manning. You know, Achie's son. The best in the biz.

That in itself is the main reason the Colts end up winning this game goin away. But there are several other factors why. Manning brings the best to the table, and it's not Carolina, Tampa, the Rams or Lions that the saints D is facing Super Sunday.

It's the machine that stomped Baltimore and the Jets in the playoffs, both of whom have better defenses then the Saints. Manning will torch that Saints D, which is ranked 25th overall, and 28th against the pass.

Kinda ironic don't ya think? The only bright spot for years in New Orleans Saints football was Archie Manning. Bringing fun to the loveable losers with his charm, smile and crazy scambling ability when he could turn any play into an adventure on a highlight reel.

And now on the verge of there first NFL Championship, the Saints dreams will be crushed by Peyton, his son. I see a movie somehow in all of this!!
