Glenn Martin DDS--- What was NICK Thinking???

"There's a time and place for everything......."   That's the first line in one of my favorite Van Hagar songs.....but It's a saying many people have used for many years. Because it's true.

Let me say I am far from a prude. Actually I've led a pretty crazy life before I got married and my daughter was born. Did it all. Played in a band, partied with the big dogs for years.

But as we get older, and especially when we have kids, we learn when and where to draw the line. Well some of us do.

So with all the junk that fill our air waves on a daily basis through the boob tube, why in the world has the only "Safe Haven" for kids decided to run this Glenn Martin DDS show??

In one episode his wife asked him "When are you going to grow a sack? You know some balls?"....When I heard that I walked in the room and asked my 7 year old who said that? She just pointed at the T.V.  This is on Nick???

Some big wig at Nick must have owed someone a favor, because this show is so far from a kids show it's a joke.

I'm a HUGE Soprano's fan. That doesn't mean I would let my daughter watch them.......like I said "There's a time and place for everything"........8 p.m. on Nick is not a good time or choice to air Glenn Martin DDS.

Vick Signs with Eagles

I believe everyone deserves a second chance. EVERYONE. (Unless you are a child molester or commit murder). But pretty much everyone  should get a second shot at making things right for there wrongs.

But my opinion is starting to change on that.

I mean look, if the "common Joe" kills someone while they are driving drunk, odds are you won't get house arrest and probation as a punishment. Unless you play Pro-football, of course. Right Donte Stallworth? (Stallworth struck and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes, who just happened to be leaving work. Former Lions player Reggie Rogers DUI killing three teens in Pontiac Mich in 1988....he has had several DUI's since!!!

Now Michael Vick gets his second lease on life. Yes he killed dogs, made the dogs kill each other, lied to his boss (The NFL commish) when questioned about it, but yet after a year away from the game, he will land on his feet nicely.

The Vick backers will tell me..."He did his time"...."He lost his home and money to bankruptcy"...."Everyone deserves a second chance".....

To that I say yes. We all deserve a second chance. But would we, (The Common 9 to 5 man) get one?

Kinda hard to fill out an on-line application for a job and explain that felony for killing dogs don't you think?  I think the Home Depot or Lowe's would kinda skip over our apps, don't ya think?

But Vick won't have that problem.

Signing with the Philadelphia Eagles,  Vick's bank account will get fat again. The fans won't care once he scores the game winning TD.  And all we will see on T.V. is what a great comeback story this is.

It's not. Once again it shows our youth if you are fast, strong, and can score T.D.'s, you ARE above the law.

You or me would still BE in prison for this crime....at least 4 years.

I think Vick was and probally will be a great player. it's not actually Vick the person I think is totally wrong in this.  He's wrong for what he did of course, but once again this shows it's not what you do, it's who you are.

The system treats athletes to soft.  PERIOD.

Tigers Grab Washburn at Trade deadline

Some people are calling it a waste, a blown opportunity, a sign that the Tigers and Dave Dombrowski aren't making enough effort to win.

I call it a great, great move.

Sure, I would have loved to get Adam Dunn, or a big monster stick to bat in front of or behind miggy, but if the tigers make the playoffs, they will be a tough out.

Having a 3 headed monster is nice. Verlander, Jackson, and now Washburn. Look at those ERAs.  I like the move. The Tigers lineup is not as weak as people think. Actually if you look at the A.L. we run run with anyone.

The Yankees are no shoe-in to head to the World Series. Yes they have a monster lineup, but  I for one don't believe in their pitching.

Yes we didn't get the stick I was hoping we would get but.....

It's August 1st, and the Tigers are in contention. That's all us real fans hope for in February when spring training begins.....

The lefty we finally needed??  I think so.....
