How I Long To Be A Celeb....Or President

Posted by Joe | Labels: , , , , | Posted On Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11:57 AM

Am I the only one who thinks Barack Obama wants to be a celeb, not the president of the U.S.? Seriously.  This guy is on T.V. for all the wrong reasons. NCAA Picks, to going "out" for a burger, to being on EVERY late night show that ever existed. Don't show me pie charts on how the economy is getting better. It's not.

Anyone in Michigan can tell you that.  Stimulus packages for all!!! Except for those who really need it. Billions to banks who won't loan you money unless you pay out the nose. 800 million to the Morgage companies, yet forclosure is still rising in Michigan and all across the country. But we are getting 13 more dollars in our pay checks, that should get the country goin again. IT REALLY SCARES ME WHEN I THINK GEORGE W.  MADE MORE SENSE WITH A $1,500 CHECK AT ONE TIME!!!   $13.00 (est)/week? (or 2) Really??!! Thats going to get the economy goin again? Not with gas creeping back to closer to $3.00/gallon.

You won the Election Mr. Obama. So please tell me when does the "Yes we can!" begin??

Barack Obama speaks well, (I think he actually could be a motivational speaker), he has a perfect smile, he's a Harvard Law Grad, (that's no easy feat) and he comes across as the all-american guy. People like you Barack, that's how you got to be the leader of the country.

I like that he seems like a guy you could sit at the bar with and BS about life, he seems to be the most "human" or "normal regular guy type President ever," which is a great thing, but enough of seeming like your everyones buddy. You are THE PRESIDENT!!  Take this country by the reigns and lead it.

Because now more then ever that's what this country needs. Give me the feeling you are really fighting for us, the American people.

Alot of countries don't like the U.S. They want us to fail, to falter and become weak.

Be that leader Mr. Obama that got the country excited to get you into the White House.

Tigers Look To Sweep Sox In Big Series

Posted by Joe | Labels: , , , , | Posted On Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 9:56 AM

While the Tigers laugh it up, Chris Getz and the White Sox leave to refuel for Sunday's game. (AP)

I love this picture......It just tells it all. The Tigers beat the White Sox for the 3rd straight game 4-3 in ten innings today at Comerica Park and have increased their lead in the Central to 3 games.

The only bad news on the day is once again the Tigers have left Edwin Jackson out to dry. ANOTHER masterpiece by Jackson, at least he gets a no decision instead of a loss. This guy has been great. The Tigers better a deal for him to keep him here for a long time.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Cabrera's RBI single and a run-scoring groundout by Guillen, but didn't get another runner in scoring position until Gerald Laird's seventh-inning double.

Things were lookin bad before this series started, the sox came in on a roll, but after 3 games, it looks like the confidence has returned to this Tigers team.

Verlander Shines In Game 1 Of Big Series

Well the bats weren't exactally on fire, but like Yogi Berra used to say,"You win when you hitem were they aint!" Thats what the Tigers did getting several bloop singles and doubles, but they all look like line drives in the box scores and the Tigers beat the Sox in game one 5-1 at Comerica Park.

Justin Verlander was incredible. Period. A complete game masterpiece, only allowing one UNEARNED run. We need to take 3 of 4 in this series, so this is a good start.

In tonights day night double header (which I hate day/night DH, what happened to just playin the second game after the first??) Rookie Eddie Bonine gets the start vs. Bartolo Colon.  Lets Sweep!

Make Or Break vs. Sox

Posted by Joe | Labels: , , , , , | Posted On Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 10:05 AM

Things are getting ugly for the Tigers very quickly. REAL UGLY. After finishing the first half of the season in first place up 4 games on Chicago, the Tigers have stumbled out of the break and are in a heap of trouble if they lose the upcoming series to the White sox this weekend.

Losing 5 out of the first 6 after the break, is not what anyone wanted. But what is really something to worry about is they aren't hitting the ball. AT ALL!!! They have lost 4 of the 5 games by 2-1 scores, wasting great pitching efforts.

And on top of it all, the Sox will be flying high after sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays, and Mark Buehrle's perfect game today defeating the Rays 5-0.

Manager Jim Leyland watches the game this afternoon at Comerica Park. After Detroit lost, 2-1, he said: "Let me make it real simple for you. Score one run a game, you lose. 99.9 percent of the time probably.”

Leyland better see something change soon.....or the roof may just fall in.

Tigers Rookie French Shines

Posted by Joe | Labels: , , , , , , | Posted On Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 2:00 AM

It's taken a few years, but the Tigers are really starting to have a home field advantage and are warming up to Comerica Park.

They are 25-12 this season at home, a place the Tigers didn't fair to well the first 3 seasons the ball park was opened.

But even more important then that the Tigers are building a very strong team for now and for the future. These young kids are looking good when called upon to get there shot at the big leagues, and yesterday it was Tigers rookie lefty Luke French who shined.

After earning his first career victory, Luke French was a smiles in the locker room. Making his second career start, the Tigers rookie outdueled All-Star Zack Grienke as Detroit defeated Kansas City 3-1. French (1-0) held the Royals to one run and six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Now the final series before the All-Star break and it's vs. the Cleveland Indians. Go Tigers!!!

Michael Jackson

I can't  say I was a huge Michael  Jackson fan.  I was always a rock n roll type of guy.  But after his death, I wish I was a bigger fan.

Of Michael Jackson the person, not the singer.

Talk about someone who led a tough life. Really this guy had it bad, I'm not tryin to be sarcastic. I'm serious. I know he had fame and fortune, anything money could buy. He was The KING OF POP.

He could have the hottest women, biggest house, the fastest cars. Anything.  But to me it seems he never got what he really wanted. An ordinary life. There was no childhood for Michael. He went straight from the womb to stardom. It really seemed like he did.

Michael began his musical career at the age of 5, ( 5 mind you, as in just  kindergarten age!!) as the lead singer of the Jackson 5 who formed in 1964. In these early years the Jackson 5, Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and lead singer Michael played local clubs and bars in Gary Indiana and moving further  as there talents grew and they could compete in bigger competitions.

From these early days Michael would be at the same clubs as big talented stars of there days, such as Jackie Wilson and would be learning from them even back then. In 1968 the Bobby Taylor and The Vancouvers discovered the Jackson five and from there they got an audition for Berry Gordy of  Motown Records. The Jackson 5 signed for Motown and moved to California. Their first 4 singles, "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There" all made US No1 hits. The Jackson 5 recorded 14 albums and Michael recorded 4 solo albums with Motown.

And of course after that came the Solo years for Michael, which were even more successful.  But for all the fame and fortune the fact of not having a "normal" childhood must have played heavy on Jackson. He did strange and crazy things, but were they really all that crazy? Most of them seemed pretty normal when you look back at them now. Look back at them and realize that Michael had no childhood. He didn't run around and play baseball, or tag. He sang and danced, and he did it well. But at what price?

Could you picture yourself being thrust into the spotlight at age 5, and never have a moments peace? EVER?? 5?!? Most of us can't remember anything we did when we were 5. I know I can't.  He was the modern Elvis. He had to actually put on costumes just to go shopping.  Could you imagine?

I think Michael lived and acted like a kid because he was always a kid at heart, and he missed out on the best and most fun years of his life because he was to busy. Busy entertaining us.
