Brandon Inge Class Act On And Off Field

Tommy Schomaker is 8 years old and has faced more adversity than many of us face in a lifetime.

Tommy is recovering from a heart transplant surgery at Childrens Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan, and  if you happened to be watching the telecast of the Tigers/Cubs game Tuesday night,  you might have saw that  Brandon Inge was sporting a new tattoo on his right forearm. It was from Tommy.

Inge, who regularly visits and donates to the hospital, had made a trip there a few weeks ago, and Tommy was excited about the possibility of meeting him. Tommy has battled heart conditions since birth, luckily doctors were able to find a new heart for him.

Tommy was in surgery when Inge was making his visit, so Inge was unable to see him.

Upon hearing of Tommy's disappointment, Inge made a return trip to the hospital to meet Tommy. He spent time with him, signing  autographs and talking with the young boy.

Then Inge asked if he could have an autograph of his own.  Tommy signed his name on Inge's arm,  in a place so everyone at the game, and everyone watching on T.V. could see. What a great thing to do.

And as fate would have it, Inge hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning.

A first class act by a first class guy. He's also a pretty good ball player.

Sometimes nice guys finish first.
